Sixth Wonder ‘Stay Away’ Single Review

For Fans Of : Spiritbox & Bring Me The Horizon

Coming from Glasgow, Sixth Wonder is preparing us for what’s to come with their brand new single ‘Stay Away’. Though the band is new to the scene, it’s scary how professionally and neatly written their first single is!

The build-ups and breakdowns not only introduce interesting chord changes; The very heavy guitars also go into some crazy syncopated rhythms, ultimately making us unaware of what to expect next. The tune is absolutely jam-packed with these divergent passages, so the fact it all sums up into a strong, cohesive piece, is that much more impressive.

Rebekah Kirk’s vocals leave nothing to be desired. They’re clean, shouty, gritty and almost slurred exactly where they need to be. The only thing I could complain about is that the mix unfortunately falls a little flat here and there, especially during the chorus, which takes away a bit of its potential power. That being said, Sixth Wonder is 100% a band to be excited about and support. It seems like the ending guitar screech is intentional, and acts as a sort of teaser for the next page in this band’s history. These people know exactly what they’re doing.
