Willow ft. Travis Barker ‘Transparent Soul’ Single Review

For Fans Of :  Paramore, Blink-182 & Avril Lavigne

With families as famous as hers, it can sometimes be hard to establish yourself as a separate person from your family. But in the case of Willow Smith, it is very clear that she has had no issue in that department, having had a music career of her own spanning for just over a decade.

However, her new song ‘Transparent Soul’ which features Blink-182’s Travis Barker is contrastingly different to how she started her career with ‘Whip My Hair’ back in 2010, but it is a good kind of different. The collaboration of the two artists is rather unexpected, but I’m here for it.

With this song we can hear elements of pop-punk, which is inspired by the artists that Willow grew up with such as Avril Lavigne and Paramore and in my opinion, it is a great tribute. The track itself is very guitar and drum heavy, which goes along nicely with the angsty message of the song, the fake people and the lies are all transparent and Willow can see right through them. The meaningful lyrics matched with the up-tempo percussion and moody guitar makes for one killer track.

On her Instagram, Willow posted a clip from the music video that accompanies the track and captioned it;

“I am so GRATEFUL and EXCITED to start this new journey!  LET THE VIBES COMMENCE ”

Willow’s new untitled album is to be released this Summer and I for one am very excited to experience what else she has to offer & I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Overall Rating: 5/5
